QGIS mendapat perakuan dalam Pelan Strategik ICT JPBD, 2012-2015
Jabatan saya barukini mengadakan bengkel di Kuantan untuk merumuskan Pelan Tindakan dan Anggaran Kos bagi Pelan Strategik ICT JPBD, 2012-2015. Antara peluang untuk memantapkan tadibir urus ICT yang komprehensif adalah dengan menggalakkan pengunaan perisian Open Source bagi mengurangkan kos perisian. Disini, Quantum GIS diterima sebagai OSS utama bagi merealisasikannya dan bermakna pada masa depan, latihan dan technical update mengenai QGIS akan digiatkan bagi mempertingkatkan tahap kesedaran QGIS. Pada hikmat saya, ni diperlukan kerana masih ramai pengguna proprietari GIS tidak tahu mengenai QGIS kerana kurang berminat keluar dari zon keselesaannya. Apa jadi pun, QGIS, bersedialah, masa depan bagi pertumbuhan QGIS amat cerah diMalaysia .

Among the opportunities seen to make effective for a more comprehensive ICT administration was to encourage the use of Open Source as a way to reduce the cost of purchasing software. Here, Quantum GIS was given recognition as a key OSS that could deliver that meaning future training and technical updates on Quantum GIS to create greater awareness of Quantum GIS. In my humble opinion, this is still needed as many proprieatary GIS users are still not aware of QGIS because they care not to venture beyond the comfort zone. Anyway, QGIS, hang on tight, the future is bright for the growth of QGIS in Malaysia.
